Digital Producer, Sharad Khare is proud to present the "KIMSOOJA Unfolding" video from his commissioned digital interview series for the Fall / Winter exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery for 2013.
The exhibition is accompanied by the KIMSOOJA Unfoldingbook, co-published by the Vancouver Art Gallery and Hatje Cantz (Berlin), which features over 100 images of the artist's work as well as essays by Daina Augaitis, Mary Jane Jacob, David Morgan, Selene Wendt and Suh Young-Hee.
Organized by the Vancouver Art Gallery and curated by Daina Augaitis, Chief Curator/Associate Director.

Digital Producer, Sharad Khare is proud to present the "Persuasive Visions:17th Century Dutch and Flemish Masterworks and Contemporary Reflections" video from his commissioned digital interview series for the summer exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery for 2013.

Painting in the Netherlands and Flanders enjoyed an exceptional variety and richness in the seventeenth century. A robust economy, international trade and a prosperous middle class supported a busy art market, including major painters that painted for the market. Several genres- among them portraiture, still life, landscape and marinescape-dominated the painting of this period.

Persuasive Visions incorporates works from the collections of the Vancouver Art Gallery and The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, with important loans from a private collection. These are exhibited in contrast with works in similar genres by contemporary practitioners, including portrait photographs by Thomas Ruff; a major sculpture, Mouthful (2008), by Liz Magor; Jeff Wall's landscape lightboxes; and a new sculptural installation by Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky, which has been commissioned for this presentation.

Organized by the Vancouver Art Gallery and curated by Ian Thom, senior curator-historical, with the assistance of The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.

Digital Producer, Sharad Khare is proud to present the "James Hart: The Dance Screen (The Scream Too)" video from his commissioned digital interview series for the summer exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery for 2013.

Haida master carver and chief James Hart has had a distinguished career. As a young man he worked with artists Robert Davidson and Bill Reid and has since developed a practice that is acknowledged internationally. He has produced significant carvings such as the Bill Reid Memorial Pole for the Bill Reid Museum and the major bronze sculpture, The Three Watchmen, with casts in British Columbia and Ottawa. His work has been included in major exhibitions of Haida and Northwest Coast art in Canada and internationally.

The Vancouver Art Gallery is grateful for the generous loan and support of a private collector who has facilitates this exhibition.

Organized by the Vancouver Art Gallery and curated by Ian Thom, senior curator, historical.

James Hart The Dance Screen is the fourteenth installment in NEXT: A Series of Artist Projects from the Pacific Rim, presented by TD Bank Group.
