The Oscar-nominated director Deepa Mhta sits down with digital journalist Sharad Khare for a glimpse into her films, her curiosity, and work on Midnight's Children with award winning writer Salman Rushdie.
Deepa Mehta is a transnational, Oscar-nominated screenwriter and director whose work is known for its honesty, beauty and universality. Her award winning films include Fire, Earth, Water and Heaven On Earth. Her numerous awards include the Lifetime Artistic Achievement from the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, the Global Leadership Award from the Indian International Film Awards and the Outstanding Contribution to International and Local Cinema Award from the Toronto South Asian International Film Festival. She has been awarded with many honorary degrees from various academic institutions Her latest film is an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel, Midnight’s Children.
