Suneet Singh Tuli is the founder and CEO of DataWind Ltd., responsible for its overall vision, strategy and execution. He has 23 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur, having previously launched two successful companies that conducted Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) on the NASDAQ stock market. At DataWind and previous ventures, patented technologies were created to develop scanning, printing and imaging products that set world records in both price and performance. The innovative products and technologies created through these ventures have received numerous awards and accolades, including recognition by the Guinness Book of Records.
Most recently, DataWind’s Aakash/UbiSlate tablets have received worldwide attention, as the Company executes a vision to empower the next three billion people with computing and Internet access. On November 28, 2012, DataWind’s Aakash2 tablet computer was launched at the United Nations by the Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.
Suneet has been recognized by Forbes magazine in its 2012 Impact 15 list as a “classroom revolutionary”, using innovative technologies to reinvent education globally. He has also been recognized as the entrepreneur of the year for 2012 at the World Sikh Awards.
DataWind has been recognized as the UK’s Most Innovative Mobile Company for 2012 by UK Trade & Investment and also received the Technology Achievement Award by the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
Suneet regularly speaks about social innovation at various forums internationally. Among others, he spoke at the Internet Freedom Conference in Stockholm, the Beyond Access conference in Washington, D.C. and the Digital World conference in Dhaka.  Suneet graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science in Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Meet Terry McBride

CEO at Nettwerk Music Group / CEO & Founder at YYOGA

Terry McBride is the current CEO and one of three founders of the Nettwerk Music Group, which includes Nettwerk Productions (Canada’s largest independent record label), Nettwerk Management (artist and producer management), Nettwerk One (publishing), and Artwerks (graphic and fashion design). Founded in McBride's apartment in 1984, Nettwerk has corporate offices in Vancouver, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg and London. Since its inception, Nettwerk has released over 600 different albums and sold over 160 million albums worldwide with such renown artists as Avril Lavigne, Coldplay, Dido, Fun, Wanting, Passenger and Sarah McLachlan. In the past few years McBride has spoke at dozens of international conferences about social marketing, digital branding, intellectual property rights and the future of music consumption. In 2008, McBride co-authored a paper for the British University of Westminster’s “Musictank” entitled Meet the Millennials that became a marketing template for musicians in the digital space. In 2004, McBride stepped onto a yoga mat for the first time by way of recommendation from a friend, and it wasn't long before he realized that yoga offered him more than just a flexible body and mind. Acting on this realization, McBride along with his friend and yoga instructor, Lara Kozan, launched a chain of wellness centers called YYoga. With many descriptions from World music to Chant to New Age to Mantra music, Nutone will demystify and clarify for listeners a brand that will be consistent in delivering quality albums.” At the 2003 Juno Awards Terry received the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award, recognizing an outstanding individual who has contributed to the growth and advancement of the Canadian music industry. Terry has also twice been awarded the Pollstar Industry Award for Personal Manager of the year for his work with Sarah McLachlan (1997) and Avril Lavigne / Coldplay (2002).

Ryan Beedie was born and raised in Burnaby, BC. After graduating from Simon Fraser University and then the University of British Columbia with his MBA, Ryan joined his father, Keith, at the Beedie Development Group in 1993. Throughout the 1990’s, Ryan was responsible for leasing, land acquisition and negotiation of build-to-suit projects. In 2001, Ryan became President of the Beedie Development Group. Under his leadership, the company has grown to own and manage over 8 million square feet of industrial space in BC. The Beedie Development Group is the dominant force in the industrial market with significant land holdings and extensive building projects. Under Ryan’s direction, the firm has constructed over 15 million square feet of industrial space. In 2010, Ryan launched the company’s residential division, Beedie Living. Beedie Living currently has several significant projects underway in the lower mainland and will bring new high-rise developments to Station Square in Burnaby and The Austin in Coquitlam. Plans are also underway for a large-scale mixed-use community in Coquitlam called Fraser Mills. Ryan has provided his expertise and influence to numerous industries and charitable organizations including Powell Place, Lion’s Gate Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital and Vancouver Police Foundation. In February 2001, Ryan and Keith Beedie established the Beedie School of Business at SFU with a donation of $22 Million dollars. The donation will be used to establish an endowment to support students, professorships and research chairs.

Meet Mo Dhaliwal

Educated in Business Administration from the University of the Fraser Valley, Mo Dhaliwal has over a decade of experience in the technology sector, including software development and Internet marketing in Silicon Valley. As a patron of the arts and producer of cultural events, Mo has worked to shatter barriers between people and encourage cross‐cultural understanding, most notably through the creation of the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society. As Director of Strategy for Skyrocket Digital, Mo collaborates with creative minds across the country and continues to create moving experiences for clients and community. In 2012, Mo was recognized for his contributions by Business for the Arts as the national recipient of the Arnold Edinborough Award and, most recently, with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Meet Michael Parks

Creative Director at Skyrocket Digital Inc.


Michael attended the prestigious Red & Yellow (Ogilvy & Mather) advertising school in Cape Town. Advancing to O&M, Johannesburg, he worked on advertising campaigns for Penguin Books and Mercedes Benz. Looking for new challenges, he moved to London where he quickly found himself working for the BBC. After his time at White City, he took on the challenge of a senior role at a boutique agency in London. It was here that he mastered typography, crafted brands and worked with most forms of print. Now in Vancouver, Michael has worked with agencies like Invoke and looks to a combination of media for the correct brand voice. He has travelled six continents and spends his leisure time on the beach with his family or in the mountains nabbing fresh lines. As Creative Director, Michael leads Skyrocket’s design and development team with the mission to create beautiful, intuitive digital experiences that unify and elevate all aspects of brand strategy.

Meet Arthur Griffiths...

A Vancouver legend, Arthur Griffiths has decades of experience in business, sport and government that make him a keen strategist and partner-builder for clients. Arthur is a businessman, philanthropist, and former candidate for political office. He is the former owner of the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL, the Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA and General Motors Place (now Rogers Arena). For the past several years, he worked with Bosco Sport, an Olympic apparel sponsor, as their UK Manager. As the Chairman of the Vancouver/Whistler 2010 Bid Society, Arthur helped bring the 2010 Olympic Winter Games to BC by identifying key stakeholders, creating a vision which would motivate the business community and government, and then negotiating key partnership agreements. He was Chair of the Vancouver Millennium rapid transit line managing community and stakeholder consultations for this major infrastructure program. He founded Canuck Place, the first freestanding hospice for children. He was Vice President of Business Development for Octagon sports consultants, a radio host in Vancouver, and President and CEO of a private real estate company in BC. Among his many achievements, Arthur is proud to have been awarded an honorary doctorate from Capilano University and named the Jack Diamond Sportsman of the Year award.

A little bit about Darrell Kopke...

Darrell is skool principal of 
Institute B, a Vancouver-based incubator and business accelerator firm. He also holds ownership positions in 11 growth companies and a Board position in 5 entrepreneurial ventures. Darrell is a member of the group of founders of lululemon athletica, a Vancouver, Canada-based yoga-inspired athletic apparel retailer. As General Manager, he oversaw the company’s expansion from one store in Kitsilano to 60 stores internationally, about 100 percent annual growth and $200+ million in sales. He holds a BCommerce Degree in Marketing from Concordia University and an MBA from UBC’s Sauder School of Business. In 2006 Darrell was announced as a member of the Business in Vancouver’s ‘Top Forty Under 40’.

Ken Sim co-founded the Nurse Next Door Group of Companies in 2001 after his own bad experience with home health care (his wife’s new caretaker turned out to be a brand-new hire the home health care company hadn’t even met.)  Ken has helped lead Nurse Next Door to its position as the dominant home health care company in Canada with more than 62 locations across North America.  Nurse Next Door has been recognized as a leader in growth strategy, customer service, employee relations and continuous improvement.
Before launching Nurse Next Door, Ken spent time as both an investment banker and a merchant banker with CIBC World Markets in Toronto, London (UK) and Vancouver.   Prior to CIBC World Markets, Ken was a financial analyst and auditor at KPMG in Vancouver. 
Ken has been recognized with numerous business achievements including Ernst & Young’s 2006 Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award and a spot on Business in Vancouver’s 2005 Top 40 Under 40 list.  Ken also completed the Entrepreneurs Organization’s Birthing of Giants program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Lean Certified Black Belt.
Ken is a board member of The Learning Partnership, The Sauder School of Business Executive MBA Program (Healthcare), and Start-up Canada.  Ken also gives speeches across North America on management best practices, corporate culture and lean manufacturing in service-based industries.
In his spare time, Ken continues to pursue his entrepreneurial passion.  Ken is currently launching a second national brand called Rosemary Rocksalt.  Rosemary Rocksalt (an extension of Siegel’s Bagels in Vancouver) plans to open over 200 Montreal style bagel restaurants across North America over the next decade.
